How did you use NCLEX Bootcamp to prepare for the NCLEX?
I purchased NCLEX Bootcamp one month before my exam date. I religiously followed the personalized study schedule NCLEX Bootcamp generated for me and aimed to answer a minimum of 30 questions per day. Each time I answered a question, I would make sure I fully understood the rationale behind the right and wrong answers. I utilized all the questions available in my one month subscription and watched the crash course videos under the topics that I was not familiar with. During the days that I was exhausted at work, I would usually try to read the cheat sheets, which I would really like to commend because they were so concise and easy to understand.
What did you struggle with most while you were studying for the NCLEX?
I work full time as a bedside nurse with eight to twelve hour shifts per day. During this time, I struggled most at managing my time and balancing my work as well as my preparation for the NCLEX. Our shifting at the hospital as well as the lack of sleep usually made my review even harder. Despite these difficulties, I aimed to answer a minimum of 30 questions per day, and I made sure that I read and understood the rationale behind the right and the wrong answers. Knowing how to manage time and the motivation for why you are working hard for this exam made a tremendous difference in passing the NCLEX.
What is one piece of advice you would give to another student preparing to take the NCLEX?
As someone who has conquered the NCLEX, I would like to tell the future takers of the exam to first trust themselves. You can't really achieve something if you don't have confidence in your capabilities. Second is to prepare for the exam and expect that you'll get right and wrong answers, and that is alright. Focus on the areas that you find the weakest. Do not be discouraged when you get the wrong answers during your test preparation; read the rationales behind it and understand it fully. We all have different learning styles, so find what works best for you. Lastly, believe and trust yourself because I know that the negativities will cloud your mind, but do not let it stop you; move forward and get that RN at the end of your name.
