As someone who is not a visual learner, I struggled to find alternatives to some of the other, more image-heavy resources. Bootcamp became my primary resource for not just learning new information, but also reinforcing it with the built-in question bank. I followed the 9-Week Step 1 Study Schedule to prepare for COMLEX and passed it on my attempt with no problem! I only wish that I knew about Bootcamp when I was taking first year Anatomy.
I took my exam on 5/20 and got my results on 6/14 and I had a couple friends who wanted to know what I did in order to pass. First, I'd like to say that overall my exam was very similar to the free 120s, Bootcamp qbank, and UWorld/Amboss.
I used Bootcamp for my exam and it was more than perfect for when I needed to review the content. It's organized by subjects and has many quizzes testing your understanding of the material after each video. They've been around for a while and they've certainly improved overtime and I have no doubt they’ve surpassed BnB in quality and will surpass BnB in popularity in the near future. While it may not have been a primary recommendation five years ago, it most certainly is now.
I found Bootcamp’s question bank to be the most similar to the actual exam in terms of style and difficulty. I think their question bank is decently sized as well. In all honesty, UWorld and Amboss was decently similar as well in terms of style but more difficult than the actual exam.
After spending 6 weeks in dedicated and 2 weeks after waiting for my score, I found out I PASSED Step 1! The biggest thing I learned from this whole experience is that you truly know SO MUCH more than you think. Go in confident and just remind yourself that YOU are capable! Here are my stats:
The main source I used for content review was Bootcamp, which I LOVED. I had used Boards and Beyond during the school year, and while it wasn’t bad, it just wasn’t for me. I’m much more of a visual learner and the images Bootcamp used in conjunction with seeing the instructor in the corner instead of just hearing a voice helped me a TON! It’s also great to hear from different instructors for different subject areas. Not to mention it was also super helpful to have the questions in between lessons to solidify info I had just reviewed. If you’re looking for a refresh from BnB I’d definitely recommend Bootcamp!
I really struggled with immunology and my medical school didn’t have a strong foundation when it came to that so I knew I had to focus a lot of my content review there. Probably one of the best modules within Bootcamp in my opinion - it was so easy to follow and to truly understand. I left the immuno unit feeling like I could nail every immuno question thrown at me, and it definitely showed with my UWorld blocks, NBMEs, and on the real deal. Their cardio and neuro units were also top notch and such great quality.
On top of Bootcamp, I also used Pathoma as my main source of path review - I watched the videos while following along in the book and making annotations. I reviewed Ch 1-3 the weekend before my exam and the night before and I’m glad I did! Dirty medicine was my main source for biochem review. He is the BEST and makes it so easy to follow and understand what you need to know for boards - don’t get caught up in the nuances of the pathways. Focus on the big picture and disease centered biochem. For me, First Aid was used solely as a supplement, for any clarification that I needed on certain topics.
Step 1 is a beast of an exam, there’s no doubt about it. Trust in yourself, focus on strengthening your weaknesses, and you will definitely be in good shape! Rooting for you all!
Med School Bootcamp was excellent for preparing for and passing Step 1 (March 2023). It helped me quickly identify my areas of weakness and gave me access to sample practice problems that helped me succeed.
In addition, the ability to watch videos linked within Anki cards is a big plus if you use AnKing as a study resource!
I used Med School Bootcamp in lieu of my school's coursework. The bite-sized quizzes, high-paced engaging videos, and focused information allow me the opportunity to comprehend the information quickly AND apply it in an integrated manner to other aspects
I HIGHLY recommend Bootcamp as the primary resource for Step 1.
If I could go back in time, I would have used Med School Bootcamp and their Anki deck from the first day of med school. The 9 Week Step 1 schedule was really helpful to stay on track and I love how they fit so much information in a few slides. I highly recommend trying Bootcamp and I hope that it will work for you, just like it did for me.
My favorite board studying resource BY FAR!
Thank you MSB for guiding my studying, helping me integrate concepts, and highlighting the highest yield topics! I love the busy, integrative slides with all the colors, drawings, and everything from pathophysiology to management.
MSB paints a clear picture of everything you need to know!
Excited to utilize this resource again for Step 2! 😁
Med School Bootcamp is the most efficient resource I’ve used for STEP 1 so far - it provides the foundation and only the high yield.
The organization of the program is super easy to use and the phone app is seamless!
My favorite part of MSB are the videos that review board style questions; the explanations are reviewed in a way that has enhanced my test taking abilities.
I started using Med School Bootcamp for systems review during dedicated. I immediately wish I had it all throughout my first and second year. The videos are quick and keep your attention, while also explaining the pathology in a way that makes you understand the whole picture instead of just random clinical pearls / buzzwords.
I look forward to answering UWorld questions over topics I have covered with Med School Bootcamp because it has made me significantly more confident in my knowledge and ability to work through questions.
Highly recommended to anyone! Especially those currently in didactics!
I chose to use Med School Bootcamp to prepare for COMLEX 1 and Step 1. Bootcamp has everything you need available to crush both exams and has so many great features to help prepare. They have easily digestible videos, post-video quizzes, and board style questions.
As a first year medical student, I can't express how much Bootcamp has been a game-changer for me. It truly has exceeded my expectations. I've convinced my peers to join Bootcamp and they also rave about it.
The videos provided in this resource are absolutely outstanding. They not only helped me establish a solid foundation of knowledge for each topic but also managed to cover the high-yield material in a way that was clear and thorough. The explanations provided were top-notch, making it easy for me to grasp important concepts. These videos have become an invaluable tool in solidifying my understanding as a student. The quizzes at the end have also served as a great way to evaluate my understanding of the material, but they also helped reinforce the key points discussed in the video.
Additionally, the Med School Bootcamp Anki deck further enhanced my learning experience. Having a dedicated deck specifically tailored to the content covered in the videos has been incredibly beneficial. It has provided me with a structured and effective way to review the material and reinforce my understanding. I highly recommend this resource to fellow students who are looking for a comprehensive and effective study aid for in-house exams and Step 1.
I personally didn’t like the layout of neurology in First Aid and was searching high and low for a resource that would cover what I needed to know for Step 1 neurology. Then I found Bootcamp. Bootcamp has been a lifesaver. It simplified many of the harder pathophysiology concepts in other organ systems, like cardio, pulmonology, and renal. I saw a huge increase on NBME practice tests in the organ systems that I used Bootcamp to review for. I wish I found Bootcamp sooner, at the beginning of my med school journey. The videos are the perfect length, so you don’t lose focus, keep you engaged, and the mini quizzes in between the modules help you check your understanding. I love how each organ system has one downloadable PDF that makes it easy to follow along with the videos. I've been telling all my friends to use Bootcamp. Thank you so much Bootcamp!
I highly recommend MSB for those who want additional prep for Step 1. The lectures cover a lot of information but are not overly long and boring. Each module being divided into 5-10min videos really helped my short attention span.
The question bank also helped solidify what I learned and has questions resembling those on Step 1.
Overall, MSB was a great experience for me. The lower cost compared to other prep course was also a bonus.
I used Med School Bootcamp for the entirety of the content review, as it had sections for every topic (cardiology, etc.) but also main concepts (pharmacology, histology, etc.).
Bootcamp was SUPER helpful in consolidating a lot of high-yield information into one space, and the questions after each video to reinforce what you learned are also KEY to sustaining understanding during the long studying period.
Additionally, Bootcamp purposefully picks out high-yield facts and figures to look out for, with tips and tricks for specific types of questions. You never know what kind of exam you’ll get, so having these extra tips was very helpful for me because they tended to stick in my mind when pointed out in a sea of information.
Overall, I am grateful that Bootcamp was a major resource for me in terms of reviewing information and organizing a study schedule.
Med School Bootcamp has been an absolute lifesaver! The videos are extremely well-organized and detail oriented, yet not too long or too short! Dr. Roviso and the rest of the Bootcamp team are stellar teachers who really care about ensuring we learn the information necessary to do well on boards! If I would have had this subscription at the beginning of my school career, I would have saved countless hours of bouncing between resources! Overall, I 10/10 recommend!!!
Med School Bootcamp has been very helpful for both my medical school's exam and Step 1 preparation. The videos are succinct and the quizzes help me stay focused and retain information. I have and would recommend it to anyone in medical school.
Bootcamp is an incredibly fantastic resource for content review and step preparation.
All of the slides contain very high yield information that is concise and comprehensive enough to successfully navigate any board-style question. The course is also structured in a great way to help solidify information as you are learning it. The instructors are great at explaining concepts, and often offer very useful mnemonics and tips for mastering the material.
Med School Bootcamp made the difference for me late in the preclinical phase and during my dedicated period studying for Step 1. I wish I had used it earlier! Especially for neurology, this content is gold.
I decided to use Bootcamp as my primary study resource while learning neuro and received massive dividends by doing so. For the anatomy portion of neuro I was extremely worried for neuroanatomy and bootcamp was honestly better than what I had been using up to that point (Blue link, Netters, Logans). They have videos, an atlas and questions on BOTH identification and applications. Definitely the best resource for 2nd order anatomy and histology questions in bulk during preclinical phase.
Finally Med School Bootcamp significantly improved my weak areas in preparation for Step 1. I took my weakest areas from UWorld, did the matching video modules in Bootcamp and brought each weak area ABOVE the passing threshold one subject at a time.
I highly recommend Bootcamp all the way to Step 1, for primary content learning and review. It helped me where UWorld could not.
I used MSB to help me pass my Step 1 exam and it was the best decision I ever made. I really enjoyed watching the videos and reviewing everything that I have previously learned.
The content creators are so passionate about teaching you and it makes you, as the student, feel much more compelled to actually understand why things are happening instead of just knowing what happens.
The quizzes after each video are amazing because it reinforces what you just watched and it allows for better memory retention. I feel as though the platform has more than enough content to help you pass Step 1 on your first try.
I only wished I started using Bootcamp earlier. All the videos are engaging and extremely high yield. It can be overwhelming to feel like there’s so much information to learn, but the Bootcamp team ensures to hit the most important concepts.
Having taken and passed my boards a few weeks ago, I can say with confidence, that Bootcamp was a vital resource to my studying success. In my opinion, Bootcamp is the next “Boards and Beyond.”
Believe me when I say it is the best all-in-one, boards study resource. I cannot thank Bootcamp enough for their incredible resource!
