Meet Lauren, a happy NCLEX Bootcamp customer who recently passed the NCLEX. I’ve asked Lauren to share her NCLEX experience with us.
How did you use NCLEX Bootcamp to prepare for the NCLEX?
I used Bootcamp.com to study for my NCLEX three weeks before my exam after reviewing ALL content from the Mark K Lectures and physical books that I had from him. My nursing school only used ATI, which I was not a big fan of. Bootcamp had A LOT of AMAZING content that helped me narrow down what needed to be studied!! The first week I had access, I did the standalone questions in each category and thoroughly reviewed the rationale for the missed questions. I then went through ALL the case studies within 5 days and did VERY well on them. After this, I did my first readiness exam to test and see how ready I was. When I took it I got a VERY HIGH chance of passing the NCLEX. After this, I proceeded to do the standalone questions throughout the week and take a readiness exam after I felt I had mastered over 75% of the content given in the case studies and the standalone questions. I completed 2/2 targets on the program within 1 week of having it, which made me feel confident and ready for my NCLEX. I took all of the readiness exams within the first 2 weeks and then reset them and went back to do them all again the day before my NCLEX, and the results were still VERY HIGH chance of passing the NCLEX!!
What did you struggle with most while you were studying for the NCLEX?
Something I struggled with while studying was remaining focused. While I was reviewing the Mark K Lectures, files, and books, I found myself feeling like I was reading a textbook. I had taken OVER a month to read through ALL content, highlight and write down what was important, and make mnemonics for myself. I felt like I was not getting anywhere because I was reading A LOT and I didn't have any way to assess what I had learned. I would watch videos from Mark K, which REALLY helped!! After watching these videos, it REALLY helped me regain focus and be able to reflect back on what I had learned throughout the lectures given. Staying focused was hard because I studied 5-9 hours throughout the day and took 15 minute breaks every hour. I felt like my eyes were fatigued and my head was going to EXPLODE!!
What is one piece of advice you would give to another student preparing to take the NCLEX?
One piece of advice for FUTURE NURSES would be to NOT STRESS!!! The #1 thing is remaining confident in what you have learned in school, what you have learned in clinical, and what skills you have acquired throughout your nursing school career. It is important to NOT STRESS about what-if scenarios and cases. What I mean by this is don't go and use a platform for studying and OVERTHINK the question. Understand what the question is asking and what the BEST answer would be in this case! Don't look back and say " What if I changed it to______?" When you second guess yourself, there is a HUGE room for error. If your gut is telling you to go with an answer, go with it! If you find yourself at a crossroads with a question think about these: "What is most important?" "What is the question SPECIFICALLY asking?" "Is it life-threatening?" "Does it apply to the ABC rule?" "Should I delegate this task?" "What symptom is the MOST severe and cause for concern?". If you go through these questions in your head and still are stuck or don't know the diseases/medication being asked about do a process of elimination rule. You got this!! Stay strong and REMEMBER your schooling, skills and competencies!!!!
