How did you use NCLEX Bootcamp to prepare for the NCLEX?
Nursing school was the hardest but most rewarding journey I decided to take. After graduation ended, the dreaded thoughts about passing the NCLEX began to kick in. When am I taking my NCLEX? How do I study everything I have been taught throughout nursing school? Will Caroline pass on her first try? Writing those thoughts that came to my mind, I can truly look back and say GOD and BOOTCAMP helped me succeed. In February, I began to research NCLEX programs to help me pass. I came across Bootcamp and their 3-Month study schedule. I decided this was the right program for me. I completed 35 questions and 1-2 case studies every day. Every few weeks I would complete a readiness assessment to see if improvements were made. I read every rationale even if I got the answer correct. When answering questions incorrectly, I would click the “reviewing” button to add to my collection. I continued to answer the reviewing questions until I correctly answered all of them. Bootcamp helped me get straight to the point with knowing different diseases, causes, symptoms, and treatment. Bootcamp helped me grow in my confidence, deepen my faith, and think like a nurse. I am forever grateful for this program.
What did you struggle with most while you were studying for the NCLEX?
One thing I struggled with the most was prioritization, especially when they are all correct. Bootcamp reminded and instilled in me to always select ABC, acute conditions, and newly admitted patients when asked who needs to be treated or assessed first. Another two categories that I struggled with were OB and Pediatrics. I feel as these topics were harder to study as they were not a specialty, I was interested in going in. Pediatrics are not adults and vice versa! Although, these topics were difficult for me to grasp Bootcamp helped explain topics in an easier way. The rationale for each question was simplified but also very informative. If the rationale did not make sense, there was a video with additional information.
What is one piece of advice you would give to another student preparing to take the NCLEX?
Hearing the words NCLEX or national boards sounds extremely hard, but nursing school was as well. If you can pass every class in nursing school, you can pass your boards! The best advice I can give is to study every day and give it to GOD before you walk in on test day. Do not overthink answers or change them. Trust your gut, you picked that answer for a reason. Reread the question and make sure you understand what they are asking for. Before exam day, make sure you know where the testing center is and you have the proper identification. Not but not least, BE CONFIDENT in yourself. You are so smart, and you wouldn’t be sitting in that seat getting ready to see RN behind your name if you were not! Now go pass that NCLEX!
