Coming into a four year university as a transfer student, I had no idea how I was going to survive handling a full course load, being involved in different research projects, and studying for the DAT. However, thanks to DAT Bootcamp, this made all of these commitments a lot easier to handle! What I found to be a saving grace for me was the "Study Schedule" feature on the website, as I followed its agenda nearly perfectly to the one it set up for me. I found it to break down the more complex concepts, such as lots of the physiology, into more manageable chunks. This allowed them to truly digest all the information, slowly getting better and better at retaining the information, really utilizing the "bio bites." However, my number one tip I would give is this: Dial in on your strengths! For me, that strength was math, and because I knew this was my strong suit, I worked hard to ensure I could score as high as I could, eventually ending in a perfect score. By truly mastering the concepts you are good at, this can really bring your score up from other categories, allowing you to shine.
Sciences
Funny enough, I found myself getting the exact same score on all of my sciences sections. I found the content on the exam to be very similar to lots of the questions found on bootcamp, which was a great thing. However, something I found myself struggling with in the heat of the exam was the time management aspect, as it is something I have never really struggled with before. This was definitely due to the fact that my nerves were at an all time high during the exam, so make sure to take a deep breath, breathe, and now that you have seen these types of questions dozens of times before!
Perceptual Ability
Despite what many people say, I really did not find the perceptual ability aspect of my examp to really be that bad! For me, I found myself scoring a lot higher on the actual exam than I would usually score on the practice tests. I especially found aspects like the "Top-Front-End" section and the "Keyhole" section to be substantially easier than the practice given by Bootcamp, allowing me to really thrive and get a great score in this area.
Quantitative Reasoning
This was my holy grail. Going into this final section, I honestly knew in the back of my head that if I only wanted to take this exam once, I had to succeed in this section. Studying for Quantitative Reasoning, though I knew I had an adequate math background, I knew I had to really master every situation that could be thrown at me to thrive. Thus, I found myself looking through more tricky and peculiar questions found in Bootcamp's, questions bank and practice tests, making sure I knew each and every type of question that could be thrown my way. On the actual exam, I found this technique to work flawlessly, as though some questions were odd in their wording, Bootcamp helped me prepare for each twist and turn.
Overall, I could not recommend Bootcamp more, and I truly found it as the solution for success, especially when dealing with such a hectic schedule outside of studying. With all the twists and turns I had to deal with outside of school, I do not think there is a more accommodating resource than Bootcamp. The program is truly designed to work around you, and thanks to all the easy to follow lectures (SPECIALLY Dr. Mike's), I found myself competent with my score, only having to take the exam once.
